WE MUST LEARN THE LESSONS

We must learn the lessons!
After two months of tests with sound equipment on local residents’ homes the Council has confirmed that noise levels at the Broughton Gate (Blum Roundabout) skate park exceed the legally permitted limit. The two adjoining children’s play parks are not affected.
The Council has asked the Parks Trust to fence the skate park off so that it can only be used between 10 in the morning and 7 pm, and to re-coat the surface to see if this will reduce the noise. So the park should be open for the summer.
But – with difficulties elsewhere in MK, and another skate park planned for Brooklands – the Council must learn the lessons.
The legal noise limits suggest that the nearest houses must be more than its current policy of just 40m away.
This has to be reconciled with the Police requirement that skate-parks should be overlooked for safety reasons.
There have to be decent facilities – toilers, litter bins etc
There has to be enough parking.
Above all we need a city wide skate park. Lib Dems are pressing the Council to investigate possible locations and funding options for this.
